Brand new name for fork

Boo.. lets keep it playful (we're gonna need it!). Being playful is also part of the BeOS spirit- like the haiku error messages. Tracker looks adorable in the hat (IMHO..) and an identifiable, unique mascot will set us apart from the other spinoffs. Like Tux on linux etc..

Then how about we change the skull and crossbones to the Renku logo (whatever that becomes).

Maybe an "R" with two cross Feathers/Leaves

Alright alright, ugh, so boring 🙂 but I get it. Do you like the red letter idea? I'm trying to put together a few visual guidelines to keep. I won't deny that I quite like the idea of having a mascot, because for years in Haiku we debated what it could be. In the end, a pigeon ended up becoming the unofficial mascot 😃 I'd hate for Renku to suffer the same fate

I don't mind the red, but I think I like the more orange colors better. I am fine with either.

I do like the mascot idea. Cat dude was cool, and so is the puppy.

Personally, I'm not a cat person. But Cat people vs Dog people arguments never ends well.. 🙂
But Tracker has been around since BeOS R0! He's central to our DNA.
Plus the japanese esthetic needs to be blended with the BeOS/Haiku esthetic to really work-
If the cat picture is the "Opening Scene" and then people boot into this, it doesn't really fit-

I don't know if anything has already been decided, but I would like to express my concern regarding the possible legal problems that may arise from the use of "renku" (while being a fantastic word for our project)

Legal problems mean lawyers' fees, compensation costs for damages to the other party, possible damage to our image and the nullification of the "marketing" invested up to that point.

Personally I like OS/B, it reminds me the era of OS/2, which was the evolution of DOS. OS/B as pointed out is the reciprocal of B/OS (read as Be/OS).
And as OS/2 is not the second choice, but the sequel.

That is why we are using RenkuOS and informally calling it renku. There is no other RenkuOS so we are safe.
