Yes. It’s not easy to find a pronunciation that is commonly used by Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, and Singapore, all of which use Chinese characters. However, using Japanese pronunciation in America and Europe feels like a trend, it feels familiar.
The term 'rènshi' (认识:chinese) and 'renshi' (連詩:japanese) have the similar pronunciation, but different meanings.
认识(rènshí, chinese mainland) 認識(rènshí, taiwan & hong kong)=to recognize
But the pronunciation is different in Japan and Korea.
認識(ninshiki にんしき in japanese, insik 인식 in korean)=to recognize
"renga" is used only in Japan.
連歌(renga, れんが, japanese)=linked poem
時調(sijo, 시조, korean)=linked poem/curated poem/a poem like song
連詩(lián shī, chinese mainland, taiwan & hongkong)=linked poetry
連詩(renshi, れんし, japanese)=linked poetry
But It is used differently in Korea.
聯時(yeonsi, 연시, korean)=continuous poetry
in Korea, the term 聯作時調(yeonjaksijo, 연작시조, korean) is used more often.
However, in Korean, we also use 連 like 連帶(연대 yeondae in korean, れんたい rentai in japanese, liándài in chinese) = solidarity, collaboration.
So, 連(ren) is good. The other candidate feels a little difficult. Renku is still good. 😃
