I'm not really interested in rehashing the whole thing in detail. The other side is not here to defend themselves, and if they were, it would just descend into another flamewar. But the AI issue was just the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. The tension already existed. You have an entrenched group of gatekeepers who know exactly what they want and any constructive comment is met with rationalizations of why it is impossible. If it hadn't been AI, it would have been something else.
That does not imply that in this community, every way-out suggestion is accepted on the spot. We discuss. We disagree. But we do have a sense that we get heard.
Our challenge is how to avoid becoming the next set of entrenched gatekeepers.
