clasqm Interesting thoughts. I think in today's world it would be our own in-house IRC or social media with file sharing.
Basically Telegram but in-house.
As far as usefullness, the Haiku forums have become hostile and monotheistic as we know, the IRC channel is core devs world and Telegram could change at anytime without our consent. So it's good to have. I always thought the devs should have used BeShare instead of IRC from the beginning. A few years back we lost our IRC platform. This would have been avoided with BeShare.

By the way, setting up a muscle server is really easy- you just install muscled and open port 2960. (you can see the port by running muscled-admin). Your WAN IP is the server address.

Which leads me to an interesting thought- now with UPnP support, and the muscled being lightweight and small, Each HiShare instance could be its own server by installing and launching muscled.
Decentralized, in-house filesharing and IRC. :-)

Hmm, Telegram is open source.. Telegram elements on the front end, Muscle on the back end? Hmm..

I am working on a Linux client, called HiTuxShare. It.s very much in-progress, but is connecting to servers and works for chat. No file sharing support yet.
