BeShare ports question

Would it be possible to extend the ports used by BeShare to include router ports 6881-6889 so that people don't have to open ports on their router to share files? This is how bit torrents do it.
Currently BeShare uses ports in the range of 7001-7009 IIRC.. Which mean people have to manually open ports to share files.
Is this possible?

Even if the range were changed, you would still need to forward those ports in your router. The only way to eliminate the need for manual port forwarding would be to implement UPnP or NAT-PMP support into the BeShare application itself, allowing it to negotiate the port opening with the router automatically.

I don't think anyone in the crew is capable of doing this... but I'm getting word from the control room: did you guys know that Muscle is at version 9.91, while BeShare is still stuck at 6.11? 🙂

It would be nice if the user had access to all the BeShare/Muscle servers with one login. I think it's possible.

Shaka444 Come on, if no bugs pop up we'll release it in the next few days. Anyway, you can find an updated version of HiShare on BeShare or HiShare 🙂

Doing some testing with @Shaka444 , we did notice that newly shared files (files added to the share folder) need an app restart for them to appear in the query list. It's as if live update is not working. Thought I would mention.

Maybe describe/document what "I'm behind a firewall" checkbox does?

I would suggest changing "Makes you reachable from outside your home NAT without manual configuration." to "Makes HiShare reachable from outside your private network.". Could be supplemented that the router needs to have UPnP, NAT-PMP or PCP activated.

Yes, he told me 'the crew is working on it'. I'd also love to modify the whole server, nickname, and status section. 🙂
